these works of art might have a hard time drawing enough people willing to pay for the chance of viewing them. this could result in starvation and death for the artist creating them. does public funding support these works? if not how do these artist survive or has my living in southern maryland somehow stunted my perception of what art is.

I think that the artist probably doesn't sell their work. But it;s a good question. How do artists support unsaleable works?
